Happy New Year Everyone 😀
I don’t know about you, but there’s been an abundance of ‘loose-weight quick’ schemes around all promising the same thing – ‘loose weight and feel great’. But I stand to differ? What happened to being healthy? Healthy living and eating, setting realistic goals, making better decisions? As soon as a new year hits, all these weight gurus bombard of TV’s, magazines, supermarket shelves and wherever else they can fit in there ‘fat-free’ logo and instead of piling on the pounds they pile on the pressure.
Now I’ve always struggled with my weight – I mean always. It wasn’t that long ago that I was 13.5 stone, unhappy, comparing myself to other females and eating to find comfort – BUT GOD!…The Holy Spirit, for a while now, has been putting on my heart to make better decisions in the areas of food and I’ve spent quite a bit of time doing research about what food does to your body – especially GLUTEN!!
I’ve spent hours, days, weeks & months ‘shouting up at the heavenlies’ LORD HELP ME! Whilst He’s been showing back GLUTEN FREE – it was recently that I actually got fed up of my tummy sounding like a trombone after eating particular foods and decided to give it a try, and the rewards have been amazing. Below I will share some recipes that I’ve made this week. I just wanted to write a short post to remind you that instead of being so harsh on yourself and resolving that ‘that’s it, I am never, ever again going to eat __________ (fill in the blank), I personally think it makes more sense to make small and wise choices now, integrate those into your life, these small changes become habits and before you know it, it’s a complete and utter lifestyle change. In Ecclesiastes 5:19 we’re told:
18-20 After looking at the way things are on this earth, here’s what I’ve decided is the best way to live: Take care of yourself, have a good time, and make the most of whatever job you have for as long as God gives you life. And that’s about it. That’s the human lot. Yes, we should make the most of what God gives, both the bounty and the capacity to enjoy it, accepting what’s given and delighting in the work. It’s God’s gift! God deals out joy in the present, the now. It’s useless to brood over how long we might live.
Now as for the physical side of things, I’m walking more – I’ll get back to you if and when there’s any more improvement in that area; but I’ve decided that I will not go with the ‘Jones’s’ and set unrealistic goals at the beginning of the year, deprive myself and make food become an idol because I cannot have something – it doesn’t control nor consume me.
Why should I let a cookie have dominion over me?? COME ON SOMEBODY!! Lool
Anyway sis, I hope whatever goals you’ve set for yourself are realistic, work for you but most importantly are HEALTH led and not WEIGHT led.
Don’t give into the pressures of this world to look a certain way, you are fearfully and wonderfully made and if I recall correctly the bible speaks on health, not weight? If that doesn’t take some pressure off, I don’t know what will. In everything we are called to bring glory to God, that also includes eating. Believe it or not He actually cares about EVERYTHING that concerns you 🙂
1 Corinthians 10:31
So eat your meals heartily, not worrying about what others say about you—you’re eating to God’s glory, after all, not to please them.
Sister please know that I am nowhere near ‘made it’ in this area and I it’s a battle that I face daily, BUT God is helping me every step of the way and slowly but surely the chains are breaking; it’s a spiritual fight, a transforming of the mind and a revelatory journey that I am on. I pray you will join me on this 🙂
